Bicycle clubbers peddle for fim,, fitness
There's is seemingly a new addition to
the American family about once every 12
seconds: the bicycle. Chapel Hill is
especially proud of its bike population
and has adjusted accordingly with bike
paths, bike racks, bike shops, bike lanes
and bike crossings. .
If you have second thoughts about how
much Chapel Hill loves the bicycle, just
leave yours unlocked for a minute.

So, there is no wonder why the UNC
Bike Club was formed in February. But,
considering that the contraption Has been
around for the better part of 200 years,
why'd it take so long for the club to' begin?
"We just decided it was about time we
got together a lot of people who like to
ride, said ..Alex Wilson, a sophomore
from Winston-SalemJThe SCC (Sports
Club Council) even said they'd been
waiting for a bike club for a long time,"
Shaw Kenion added.; .T'
Wilson and Kenion are co-founders
and organizers of the club, although
Wilson admitted, "AH we did was put up
the posters M '
Yet, either through their efforts or by
word of mouth, the 25 members of the
UNC Bike Club meet periodically to do
what bike clubbers do best ride
bicycles.
"We try to meet at a set time on, say,
Sunday mornings, and then go someplace
while the traffic is still pretty light,"
Wilson said.
