Memorial Hospital may force some of that facility's inpatients into the Student Health Service building later this summer, officials said. "The hospital wanted to rent some of our space temporarily while their renovation is going on," said Dr. James Taylor, director of Student Health Services. "They would rent part of an inpatient floor." Taylor said the move would take place when it gets approval from the Division of Student Affairs, and when NCMH is far enough along in its remodeling project. "We had been talking about something on the order of June to July through January or February (for the duration of occupancy by NCMH)," Taylor said. "That depends, of course on the approval of Student Affairs, and the time frame is just speculation on my part. "I was supposed to hear something about it by the first of the month, but now that is past, and I haven't heard anything definite." "If we can arrange it, I'd like to accommodate the hospital," said Donald Boulton, vice chancellor for Student. Affairs. "It would be a good-neighbor thing, and it would mean some money for us. "We're talking about 10 or 1 2 beds at one end of the building, so I think we'll be able to accommodate them," Boulton said. "If we needed the space, they'd (NCMH) have to go," Taylor said. "If we had an epidemic or something, we'd have to make some kind of (alternative) arrangement," Boulton said. "But as "a hospital, their work has high priority." Boulton said that patients moved to the Student Health Services building would be attended to by NCMH personnel.
