In the spring of 79 Prakash and Jo Anne Dalai brought rainbows to Franklin
Street. Having recently left the hassles of big-city life in Cincinnati they
found in Chapel Hill the perfect atmosphere for rainbows. They quickly
transformed the stockroom of Danziger's Old World Gift Shop (Now
Oasis) into Rainbowtique, and filled the shop with rainbows and a
whole spectrum of amazing and amusing items. This light-hearted
approach to gift giving was well received and soon the "rainbow
spirit" was all over Chapel Hill.
At Rainbowtique the "rainbow spirit" includes many facets
of fun and fantasy. Unicorns are at home among rainbows;
and hearts, stars and whimsical animals compliment rain
bows on mugs, pins, boxes, wind chimes and note cards.
Uniqueness and craftsmanship are also part of the
"spirit" of Rainbowtique and are best illustrated by
the large selection of hand-crafted tops from India
featuring delicate embroidery or other intricate
details.
