The Carolina Union announces audition for
"Tennessee's Waltz," an original production based on
Tennessee Williams' poetry, with a student and faculty cast.
Actors, musicians and crew are needed for the production.
Auditions will be today from 7-10 p.m. and Thursday from
2-7 p.m. in Great Hall at the Union.
In conjunctions with the Carolina Gay Association, the
Human Relations Committee of the Union will be
sponsoring a series of workshops, films and discussion
groups throughout Gay Awareness Week. The activities will
run from today through Nov. 7. For more information, call

A series of workshops, social activities,
and the showing of a film will be held
beginning today through Oct. 31 as a
part of UNC's Gay Awareness Week.
The week's activities are sponsored by
the Carolina Gay Association and the
Carolina Union Human Relations
Committee.
"Our main goal with Gay Awareness .
Week is to educate the straight
community on gay issues and
concerns," said Human Relations
Committee Chairman Larry Ellis.
Included in the week will be
workshops on coming out, civil rights,
gay rights and feminism, religious issues
and homosexuality and the athlete.
A few highlights of the week will be a
talkMonday on gay rights and the new
conservatism, and the film "Word is
Out," which will be shown Tuesday.
The CGA and the Human Relations
Committee will combine to offer
outreach workshops to dormitories and
other organizations that request it on
"Understanding Gayness."
CGA president Randy Woodland said
the function of the week and the
organization was to allieviate the myths
and misconceptions about gays with an
emphasis on education.
