the U.S. Water Resources Council, will look at a

Because future water supplies are the main water
concern in Orange County and particulary in Chapel

needs, resources, and current projects, and will look
for potential alternatives to existing water supplies.
One such alternative would be the possibility of using
ground water to supplement the existing water supply.
Ground water is water that flows beneath the earth's
subsurface in void spaces such as cracks, fractures and

government participation," Yonts said. The Orange
Water and Sewer Authority has been asked to partici

All Orange County waterways south of Hillsborough

.Hoffman given , prison term'
NEW YORK (AP) Abbie Hoffman, the former Yippie leader who sur

In Manhattan's state Supreme Court, Acting Justice Brenda Soloff ordered
the graying, curly haired activist to begin serving the term on April 21.

UNC Assistant Dean of Student Life Elson

our system from theirs. The faculty here has a

Joel Schneider, undergraduate court chair

system. "There are a lot of plusses in an
honor system over a proctoring system. There's
a lot of pride for academic work done under
the honor system. Many people overlook this
for the judicial process."

Instead of looking at us as someone here to
protect their academic interests, they take the
