swung the bats."

Gallagher was appearing in only his sec
ond game as a hitter after arm troubles had
forced him to gfve up a pitching career.
However, the Seahawks did not fold. In
the fifth, Tim Whitehead doubled, Paul Murr
was hit by a pitch, and both later scored on
an Antle double, brinjlns the score to 6-5.
UNC-Wilminj-ton scored three more runs
in the sixth to cap the comeback. With one
out Tommy Phillips and Kelly CDonnel!
singled, bringing in reliever Bruce Ashley.
Tim Whitehead greeted Ashley with an
RBI single. Rihtfielder Jeff Scott then
misplayed a Paul Murr fly, allowing the tying
run to score. Rcer Hudson greeted Ashley's
replacement John Marshall with a sacrifice
fly to score Whitehead with the decisive run.
UNC rallied to score once in the sixth, but
a ground out by Ronnie Broome with the ty
ing run on second base ended the inning.
The Tar Heel loss left them with a 6r17
record with little hope of making the league
tournament scheduled for July 23-25 at the
league leader's (probably Campbell) home
field. The top four teams in the league
qualify for the tournament and UNC is in
fifth place.
