Carolina students laughed while waiting for athletic events tickets, but they also have involv ed themselves with controversial issues. Concern about the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse endangered by beach erosion drew students, and two political foes together, Sen. Jesse Helms, R-N.C. and Gov. Jim Hunt.
