X By DAWN BRAZELL Staff Writer For those times when you don't feel like cooking or grabbing the usual box of cereal, Chapel Hill has a variety of places to eat break fast. Breadman's at 337 West Rosemary St. of fers a casual atmosphere and reasonable prices. Grab a menu at the door and take a seat in one of the wooden booths. Open from 6 a.m. to midnight Monday through Saturday and 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday, Breadman's serves breakfast anytime. A basic breakfast of two eggs, grits or home fries, toast or biscuit costs $1.50. Omelets range from $1.80 to $3.05 and come with fil lings such as cheese, cream cheese, ham, mush rooms and bell peppers. Breadman's also of fers hot cakes, biscuits with meat fillings, and french toast. For a soothing atmosphere, try the Carolina Coffee Shop at 138 E. Franklin St. With soft lighting, cushioned -wooden booths, and clas sical music playing in the background, it is the perfect setting for a leisurely breakfast. Form erly a student post office and then a soda shop, the Carolina Coffee Shop has relics from the past, such as the wainscotting counter and back bar. Try eggs benedict, eggs sardou or tivoli grill. For those who prefer something less exotic (and less expensive), a basic breakfast with two eggs grits or hashbrowns and toast costs $2. 15. Omelet prices range from $3.50 to $4.25 and griddle cakes are between $2.50 and $3.75. For a light breakfast, there are English muffins, bagels and cinnamon rolls. Breakfast is served from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday and from 9 a.m. to 2 D.m. Monday. The Continentale Cafe at 106 Henderson St., also has a distinct atmosphere. Greek figures, in battle and recreation, line the ceilings while Greek music plays softly in the background. Breakfast is served from 7:30 to U a.m. Monday through Friday and from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Prices at the Continentale Cafe are reason able. A basic breakfast with two eggs, grits or hashbrowns and toast costs $1.75. Omelet prices start at $2.30. Hot cakes and other items are also offered. Formerly a student post office and then a soda shop, the Caro lina Coffee Shop has relics from the past, such as the wainscot ting counter and back bar. For those on the run or who have a craving for thick, homemade biscuits, the Sunrise Biscuit Kitchen on 1305 E. Franklin St. is the place to go. It is a drive-through restaurant which is open from 6 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. daily. You can call in orders and use the fast lane pickup service. Ham, egg, cheese, bacon and tomato are some of the items offered on bis cuits. Prices range from an egg biscuit at 65 cents to a bacon, egg, cheese and tomato bis cuit at $1.56. And, if you do not find just the right combination, you can build your own. Ye Olde Waffle Shop, at 173 E. Franklin St., is also a popular breakfast spot. Folks often line up along the wall, especially on Sun days, to wait for a good old-fashioned break fast. Open Monday through Saturday from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., the restaurant offers a variety of break fast foods. A basic breakfast (two eggs, grits or hashbrowns and toast) costs $2.30. Omelet prices start at $3. Hot cakes (pecan and blue berry) and waffles (cream and pecan) are also served.
