The Pentagon said the death toll from Sunday's terrorist bombing of a U.S. Marinecommand post rose to 216 as eight more bodies were recovereoTand one man died of injuries in a military hospital in West Germany. The suicide strike was carried out by a man driving a truck packed with a ton of explosives. It was the bloodiest attack against the U.S. military since Vietnam. The Marine commander, Col. His critics complained that he acted illegally without consulting Congress and that he was substituting military action for diplomacy.
