Wilson seeks senior class presidency
as Sprinkle runs for vice president
By JANET OLSON
Staff Writer
Cheryl Wilson, an international studies
major, and Randy Sprinkle, an industrial
relations and political science major, both
juniors from Winston-Salem, have an
nounced their candidacy for senior class
president and vice president.
"We would like to work very hard with
the senior class," Wilson said, "by get
ting their opinions and being a voice for
them."
Wilson said that if elected, she and
Sprinkle would place emphasis on next
year's graduation ceremony. Much of
their work would be devoted to inviting a
prominent speaker to the ceremony,
Sprinkle said.
"We feel that our school deserves a
prominent speaker at graduation because
it is of the caliber of many other fine in
stitutions in the country," Sprinkle said.
He added that they would aim not to
find a controversial speaker but to invite
someone with national prominence who a
majority of seniors would support.
In addition, since the class of 1985 will

be the first to graduate from the Student
Activities Center, Wilson said she hopes
to help ease the transition by making the
graduation ceremony as smooth as possi
ble. Wilson said she would also like to
donate a more valuable senior class gift to
the University, one to be remembered
after the class of 1985 graduates.
If elected, Wilson said she would also
support "senior extras" such as coor
dinating a class trip, sponsoring a home
coming representative, or acquiring block
seats at football games.
The most important "extra," she said,
would be to publish a newsletter in co
operation with the Job Placement Center.
The newsletter would address seniors'
concerns and would inform seniors of
any progress her administration might
make.
Wilson said she hoped to use polls and
surveys to learn where the majority of
seniors' interests lie and to organize those
interests before making decisions.
Wilson has served as a liaison between
packages including daily,
tinted and extended wear
contacts.
