Her Royal Highness Princess Anne of Great Britain spent the night in Chapel Hill at the
Morehead Foundation building on Thursday of last week. She was on her way to Manteo to
join Governor Hunt and other dignitaries to celebrate the 400th anniversary of Englishmen
on (what was to become) American soil. She carries a bouquet of flowers given to her by a
youngster at the Raleigh-Durham airport. Philissa Cramer, above, daughter of UNC
professor Richard Cramer, waves a Union Jack with her mother Jane Gabin as part of the
large crowd that turned out to welcome Princess Anne to Chapel Hill and to America.
