In "Cadillac Ranch," a song about what must be the national car of the Jersey turnpike, Springsteen got in a plug for the Tar Heel state: "Junior Johnson running through the woods of Carolin'." "Dancing in the Dark," true to the MTV video, brought Springsteen off the stage in search of one lucky female to be his dancing partner. Probably as a testimony to Spring steen's popularity, the night was too short to include all of Bruce's greatest hits. Noticeably absent were "Jungle land" and "Rosalita," but the show had included the whole of Springsteen's troubles and good times. To a, small, understanding response from UNC students, Springsteen dedicated an Elvis Presley ballad to junior varsity cheerleader Robin Davidson, who was injured at a game last week. By the time the house lights came on, everyone knew what was next. The extended encore had the crowd on its feet and special guests Gary U.S. Bonds and Robin Tompson onstage. Beginning with "Born to Run," Springsteen launched into "Twist and Shout" and the band's 'own medley of '50s tunes with "Devil With the Blue Dress On."
