Carr Mill Mall 942-8719 ikDircod ment at this time on the reasons for the move. Laudati saidthat the ICSS has rel ocated its Soup Kitchen at 111 Merrit Mill Road. Renovations on the building have changed what used to be a hairdresser's establishment into a full fledged kitchen with an industrial sink Laudati said. Although the construction was completed and the Soup Kitchen officially opened only last month, congregations of ICSS volunteers have continued the feeding out of the backs of cars on the kitchen's lot said Laudati. Even a major move in the middle of winter did not stop the ICSS from providing aid to those who were dependent on their services. Grace Hicks, an ICSS volunteer and Monitor Coordinator of the Soup Kitchen, said that attendance to the kitchen has been increasing since the move. She also said that many of the former patrons who are poor, homeless, or deinstitutionalized continue to come to the kitchen along with the new ones. Hicks said that the new kitchen is more attractive than the old one because ICSS volunteers designed and deco rated it themselves. She said that the volunteers hope to create a feeling of unity among its patrons as well as provide them with nutritious meals. Although the ICSS must now pay $400 rent per month on the new Soup Kitchen, Hicks said that the volunteers would still be able to serve their patrons in the same capacity as before. Funding for the Soup Kitchen is currently made available through individual and group donations to the ICSS. irtnsnim LIBRARY PAGE Town of Chapel Hill Public Library. 10 hrswk June-Aug.
