Fall 1985 Carolina Athletic Association PAGE 3 Student Activity Center To Open That awesome sight on South Campus known as the Student Activity Center (SAC) is but months away from occupation. Occupation by hysteria ridden Tar Heel fans. At last word, it looks like the SAC will be open in late Fall or by Winter at the latest. A portion of Varsity Basketball games if not the whole schedule will be played in the new facility, says Steve Camp, Director of the SAC. It is unsure whether the Heels will open against UCLA in the SAC, but if the facility is not completed, some of the games will be played in Carmichael. With a very large 'and intricate facility, Camp says, minor delays are expected. The primary concern of the builders is to create a quality first-rate complex. A project like the SAC is difficult when so many people are laden with responsibility, now and then some problems may occur, but the SAC is well on its way to comple tion. The SAC is in the final stages and when it does open it will be a day to remember. Not only will you be able to see the greatest basketball in the world, but UNC will also attract top-line first class acts, i.e. Bruce Springsteen Prince, etc. (Don't get all excited yet, students that's just an example.) The SAC will attract acts that will appeal to all age brackets and tastes. It will also attract, because of its capacity of over 21,000 seats, acts that may not have stopped in North Carolina before. The SAC is accoustically sound with excellent sight lines. There's not a bad seat in the house, says Camp. If things are not completed on time, please students, have a little heart. We can guarantee that when you enter the SAC for the first time you'll realize it was worth the wait. ' Thanks to S. Camp and all who contributed time and $$$ to the SAC.
