8The Daily Tar HeelTuesday, February 4, 1986 Continued from pago 7 - - To the editors: Too many people ask what the Residence Hall Association is. As seniors who have been here long enough to see several presidents and Governing Boards of RHA, we're glad that there is finally someone running who will turn RHA around.-For too long, RHA has failed to work for residents, but if this student body elects Ray Jones president of RHA, the failure of RHA in the past will be replaced by the successes of a new RHA. Ray's proposals are simple, and they are based on the knowledge that dorm governments can perform functions Campus Calendar The DTH Campus Calendar will appear daily. Announcements to be run must be placed in the box outside the Daily Tar Heel office, Room 104 of the Student Union, by noon one day before the event weekend announcements by noon Wednesday. What we like most about Ray is not just his ideas but his record of success in implementing them. Few dorms enjoyed the year as Avery has under his presidency, and his has been a great example of the kind of dorm govern ment that is responsding to the people in the dorms. Realizing that students are capable of governing themselves has led Ray to call first for the independence of RHA from the domination of the Housing Department. His plans for the admin istration of RHA define . the specific tasks of the RHA boards. His proposal 7:00 p.m. UNC Scuba Club meeting to discuss Mexico trip, 303 Woollen.
