WXYC 'to laost Boeltoe, stuiifleinits CyUZSAYLOR Staff Writer Donald Boulton, vice chancellor and dean of student affairs, will speak to students on WXYC's call-in talk show Northern Hemisphere Live tonight at 11 p.m. John Giragos, one of the organizers of Students for a Student Voice, will represent that group on the show. Student Body President Bryan Hassel and Daily Tar Heel Editor Jim Zook will also answer questions during tonight's live broadcast. "There has been a certain amount of friction between the Division of Student Affairs and students," said Wynston Smythe, former host who is now in an advisory position for the talk show. "(With this show) . . . students can voice their complaints directly to Dean Boulton over the airway. "Either Dean Boulton will realize there's more of a problem than he thought or the students will see there's not as much of a problem as they thought. It's an exercise in interaction, not a presidential summit meeting." Zook said he was open-minded about the performance of the Division of Student Affairs. "I'd like to hear from students whoVe had direct dealings with the Division of Student Affairs," Zook said. "IVe heard a lot of general criticisms, but I want to hear some specifics. I'd like to see the show focus on that." Zook said he hoped people would call in with some positive comments so the show would present both sides of the issue. The host or hosts will ask the guests questions for about 15 minutes to start the show, Smythe said. Then they will take calls until 2 a.m. The station uses a delay system for calls, Smythe said. "Everything that's said goes on the air seven seconds later," Smythe said. "That way someone can bleep out anything that needs bleeping out. The calls are not cancelled." Smythe said the system did allow joke calls, but added: "If the show's inter esting enough, then joke calls can't get through. We hope they will be kept to a minimum." r Campus Calendar I : gaffliSL.
