The Daily Tar HeelTuesday, October 21, 19867 DTK! Picks of She Week We know its quite early in the week, but since this is the last paper before break, and we know your week isn't complete unless you browse over the DTH Picks of the Week, and we have a bunch of space on this page in which this item just happens to fit very snuggly. and since this sentence is in danger of going on for three more lines, we give you an early edition of a DTH tradition. The intrepid DTH sports staff rebounded from last week's definition-of-mediocrity perfor mance to put all four pickers over the .500 mark. Bob ( Damn 1 Love It When 1 Win) Young led all prognosticators with an 8-2 display. Mike (Blessed Is Dan Marino And The Womb Which Gave Birth To Him) Berardino followed with a 7-3 mark which was matched by Jim (October Is The Crudest Month, Breeding Allusions Out Of A Dead Liberal Mind) Surowiecki. Trailing the pack was Scott (Isn't Davey Jones Cuter Than Ever?) Fowler with a 6-4 "weak." YouH notice Scott Fowler was the only one to take UNC this week. Game UNCatLSU Clemson at N.C. Two diamonds, exactly the same carate weight, at first glance appear to be the same. Why does one cost so much less than the other? what are the true differences in the stones? If you looked at these stones would you know the difference? Could you tell which one was truly worth the higher price? Confusing? The situation becomes more frustrating when you go shopping. Every store presents diamonds in a different way and accurate comparisons are difficult to make. How do you really know what you are buying? At Jolly's in Cameron Village we have simplified this difficult process by publishing THE DIAMOND BUYER'S GUIDE. By condensing volumes of information about diamonds and by using charts, photographs and optical diagrams, THE DIAMOND BUYER'S GUIDE will make buying a diamond less confusing and a knowledgeable decision easier to make. We invite you to come to Jolly's in Cameron Village and let us introduce you to this new and informative approach to selecting a diamond. THE DIAMOND BUYER'S GUIDE, truly one of a kind. What to do? What to do? What to do? Shut up, you whining baby! Here's what you do. Rent or steal a car, if you don't have one. (The second option is a hell of a lot cheaper, but the first eliminates any chance of getting thrown in jail.) Then hit the road and follow Tar Heel teams up and down the eastern seaboard, getting your fill of sports action on the way. If you're reading this, you prob ably already know that the football team will be playing in Death Valley this Saturday. The opponent is LSU, and UNC will probably rely on Air Mayeled passes to pull off the upset. So let's leave football aside. Your odyssey begins tonight in Carmi chael Auditorium as the volleyball team takes on the powerhouse of St. Augustine's. An easy win should whet your appetite for more action. If you have your car, you hit the road. Thursday, instead of sitting at home, eating dear old Mom's home cooking, youH be sitting in the stands at James Madison, watching UNC field hockey take on the Dukes. The field hockey squad is 12 1 and is also the top-ranked team in the nation. The players probably don't need your support, but they -might appreciate it. When the game's done, turn around and head south to the thriving Floridian metropolis of Deland, Fla. The stalwart men's soccer team will be playing in the Florida Invitational Cup Adelphi Championship Friday and Saturday. Now these guys need your support. One Carolina-Blue clad fan might make the difference. While you're in Deland, make a side trip to Orlando. You can see Disney World, Sea World and an even greater wonder: the UNC women's soccer team. These athletes haven't lost in eons. The squad is 16-0-1, and will play, or rather toy with, Barry College and Central Florida this weekend. That means 18-0-1 by Sunday. After women's soccer, it's time to return home. If you drive real fast (hey, the car's not yours anyway) you can make it to Chapel Hill in time for another volleyball match, this one against LSU. The team will have played the night before in Carmi chael as well, taking on Maryland. If you don't drive real fast, you can still see Sunday's action. The field hockey team clashes sticks with Maryland at 1:00 on AstroTurf Field, while women's golf will host the final day of play in the Tar Heel Invitational.
