14The Tar Heel Thursday, June 4, 1987 C-TOPS Doughton said: "Staying in the residence hall is great because it gives the freshmen a feeling of how small the room is and makes them aware of how much stuff they should bring. If they are rooming with someone they do not know at C-TOPS, it gives them a taste of what is to come if they are in the same situation in the faU." Freshmen also attend several programs to help them adjust to college life, such as "Changes and Choices," "Security Services" and "Student Life The Real Story. w Many of the programs include skits performed by the orientation commissioners and are followed by discussion in small group sessions. "The skits deal with problems such as how to handle your roommate coming in drunk and roommate incompatibility," Shackelford said. "Later we (the commissioners) discuss the skits with the freshmen as a student and also talk frankly about anything and everything."
