The same parking lots that were available during regular school sessions will be available to It brings out the best in all of us. United Vtfay students and employees of the Uni versity during summer school. A parking services spokeswoman said Monday that permits are readily obtainable. The permits are available at the Department of Transportation Office, located next to Morrison Residence Hall in the new Securities Building. Applicants may choose from a variety of locations, and few prob lems are expected with applicants receiving the locations of their choice. Parking will be enforced this summer with fines of up to $25 for illegal parking. A student who receives a ticket and delays payment will not receive a grade report or a diploma from the University until the account has been settled. Fines may be mailed to or paid at the Depart ment of Transportation. Residents of Cobb, Lewis and Everett residence halls can obtain permits in the A lot near these halls for $45. Permits for the remaining lots located at Ehringhaus (K lot), Hinton James (M lot), Craige and Morrison residence halls (L lot); the Smith Center (F lot); the lower law building area (S3 lot); and Ramshead (S5 lot) are available to any student or employee. Scholars program receives one of 68 national awards From staff reports The UNC Mathematics and Science Education Network has received a grant of $128,762 from the National Science Foundation's Young Scholars Competition to help support a summer scholars program. The award is one of 68 Young Scholars awards made by the foundation to establish science, mathematics and engineering enrichment projects for more than 2,500 high-ability and high potential secondary school students. UNC Press gets new members The UNC Board of Governors has named five new members to the Board of Governors of the University of North Carolina Press and has made one reappointment. UNC faculty elected to the board were Stirling Haig, Sher man James and Madeline Levine. University Briefs Board chairman and UNC clas sics professor George Kennedy was re-elected to the board. BOG appoints four trustees The UNC Board of Governors has named four new members to the Board of Trustees of the UNC Center for Public Television and made one reappointment. Elected to the board were Morton Cohn of Asheville, a former president and general manager of WLOS-TV in Ashe ville; Russell Davis, an attorney from Wilmington; Roy Parker of Fayetteville, founding editor of The Fayetteville Times; and Edward Rankin of Kannapolis, a former president of the UNC Alumni Association.
