energy, but suffers slightly from
being too long.

Sammy and Rbsle Get Laid
Stephen Frears and Hanif Kureishi,
the director and writer of "My
Beautiful Laundrette," team up
again to create a scathing and
bitter picture of the racial tension
in London's Pakistani community
in Thatcherite Britain. Though
undoubtedly powerful, the film
fails to recapture the subtleties
that worked so successfully in
"Laundrette," and turns into an
overly political and rather uncom
fortable experience.
