Folks, it's durn near Christmas. As
the resident sports columnist for the
DTH, 1 am here to give you my
Christmas wish list and New Year's
resolutions.
; For the past 20 odd years (and
believe me, they have been odd), I
have made two lists at the end of each
year. The first is my greed list, which
begins with the words "I want." The
second is a list of things I will either
try or try not to do beginning with
the first of January. Without further
ado, here it is:
Wish Numero Uno 1 want UNC
to beat Duke in basketball. You don't
know how bad I want UNC to beat
Duke. If Santa doesn't give me his
word that he will let the Tar Heels
beat Duke at least once this year, I
will throw a hissy fit.
Wish Numero Two-o (I never
was. good at Spanish.) 1 want Duke's
campus to suddenly fall into the
Abyss of Hell. ,
Wish Number Three-o I want
the Hornets to make the playoffs and
bring respect for the city of Charlotte.
; Wish Nombre Quatre I want
the Redskins to make the playoffs and
repeat as Super Bowl Champs. I
know that's stretching it, but, hey, I
gotta be me.

want the Yankees to win the AL East.

damn near run me over when I'm
walking to class to fall into the Abyss
of Hell along with Duke.
Wish Numeral Nuevo I want
someone to come along who can do
the Heisman Trophy proud. Some
one like me.
But there is another part to the
holiday season, you know. It comes
after Christmas, is full of more good
times, happens only once a year and
gives everyone involved one last
chance to relive the glory of the past
year. You know what I'm talking
about: Bowl games.
I'm not real sure about the Notre
Dame-West Virginia matchup in the
Fiesta Bowl. Mr. Logic says the Irish,
but Mrs. Underdog argues West
Virginia by three.
So what are my plans for the
holiday season? Well, I'm going home
after flunking my exams, take up
residence on the couch, and watch

Year's resolutions, which I resolve to
follow religiously.
1. I resolve never to say anything
bad about Mike Kryzwz . . . Kryzyw
. . . Krywz . . . Jim Valvano again.
Unless he deserves it.
2. I will try to be less obnoxious
at UNC basketball' games. This is all
depending on how much IVe had to
drink, of course.
3. Never again will I eat the nachos
at the Smith Center. Take my advice;
you'd be smart to put this on your
list. Last time I got those cardboard
flavored, imitation Doritos I was
nearly Cheez-Whizzed to death.
4. And finally, the most important
resolution of all, the last one. Hmmm
. . let's see. Resolution number five,
whatH it be? Lose weight? Done
already. Get a tan? Get real.
Nope, can't come up with one.
However, if I do happen to think one
up while I'm lying comatose on the
floor of Pat O'Brien's in New Orleans,
