Who Framed Roger Rabbit?

This remarkable film will outlast
everything else around at the
moment and surely become a
classic unless it starts to spawn
sequels. Bob Hoskins plays private
detective Eddie valiant, who gets
called in to investigate the murder
of a studio boss for which Roger
is the prime suspect. The plot
(which does get a little weighted
down in the middle) takes a back
seat to the visual feast of Richard
Williams' astonishing animation.
The opening scene in itself is worth
living for. Well, nearly ...

from grace of the proud Minafer
family who are torn apart by a
mother-son dispute is right up
there with "Citizen Kane." Orson
Welles made it the year after his
revered masterpiece, and turned

mastery that few directors since
his time have come close to
achieving.
