Page 4 DTH Omnibus Thursday October 5, 1989 From staff reports Get ready ... get set ... your par ents are coming! The fifth Carolina Parents Weekend is set to begin Oct. 6 as parents the world over get ready to invade the UNC campus. More than 1,000 par ents are expected to participate in this year's festivities, which include open houses, the UNC-Wake Forest football game and a family barbecue. This will be the second year that Parents Weekend will be held in the fall. When it was started in the spring of 1986, it was inadvertently sched uled to coincide with Burnout, Springfest and Beach Blast. Last year's change to a fall date encouraged a five-fold boost in attendance, bring ing the parent total to more than 1,500. The weekend is sponsored by the University Parents Council, the Division of Student Affairs and the University Development Office. Registration for the weekend is $ 10 per adult with additional charges fro the barbecue, football game and sev eral of the entertainment events. Preregistration is preferred.
