Campus Calendar
The DTH Campus Calendar is a daily
listing of University related activities
sponsored by academic departments,
student services and student organiza
tions officially recognized by the Divi
sion of Student Affairs. To appear in
Campus Calendar, announcements
must be submitted on the Campus
Calendar form by NOON one business
day before the announcement is to run.
Saturday and Sunday events are printed
in Friday's calendar and must be sub
mitted on the Wednesday before the
announcement is to run. Forms and a
drop box are located outside the DTH
office, 104 Union. Items of Interest
lists ongoing events from the same
campus organizations and follows the
same deadline schedule as Campus
Calendar. Please use the same form.

said he knew of no black faculty
members that had left the University
because of Cell.
The National Collegiate Black Cau
cus and other minority groups have
accused Cell of being inaccessible to
students and have attempted to block
her reappointment.
Hardin also addressed the contro
versy over the site of the new business
school. While none of the possible sites
have been rejected completely, Hardin
does believe it is important to listen to
student concerns, he said.
Citing space restrictions on campus,
Hardin did not. rule out expansion to
more remote areas.
"Remoteness should not really be a
key factor in choosing a site. We cannot

The dramatic increase in housing
utility costs such as electricity and
water has forced the housing depart
ment to look into new ways of cutting
expenses, Kuncl said. This year's rates
are especially high because of the new

think that there is enough room to have
everything near the undergraduate fa

life here on campus."
In its annual report, the Faculty
Committee on Athletics announced that
the President's Commission had pro
posed resolutions that would limit the
length of the basketball season and cut
practice time in half for football.
The committee also reported on the
performance of the Athletic Support
Program. Chairman Richard Hiskey
defended the program.
"The Athletic Support Program is
not just a tutorial program for dum
mies. It helps athletes utilize the wide
variety of resources available to stu

power plant, which was constructed to
meet the increasing University de
mands. ' Students will not have to pay the cost
increases this year, Kuncl said, because
the housing department has absorbed
this year's increases. B ut this will proba
bly force the housing department to
postpone the scheduled renovation of
Graham Residence Hall in the summer.
The postponement of Graham's
renovation is still indefinite, Hicks said.
Hicks said his committee, consisting of
three students and four housing offi
cials, was exploring financial alterna
tives so the renovation of Graham dor
mitory could take place as soon as
possible.
"Right now it looks like the Graham
renovation will be postponed for one
year," Hicks said. "Hopefully, we can
come up with some creative financing
that would allow us to renovate Gra
ham next year and still keep up with the
renovation schedule.
. "One possibility and this is still
all speculative would be to renovate
two buildings per year. But there are a
lot of financial details that need to be
worked out."
