AFL Group Plans To Meet In June Regarding Palestine Aid New York City—More than 300 ».delegatee of labor unions from • every part of the United States i .and Canada will meet at a three I day National Trade Union Emer eency Conference on Labor Pales tine in Atlantic City, N. J. next month, with William Green, Prea Greetings To Labor F & E CHECKWRITER COMPMY Phone 4-6704 422 Piedmont Bldg- , Charlotte, N. C. Compliment* of WESTSIDE ICE & FUEL COMPANY 1635 W. Trade Street 1 Phone 3-0411 PASTEURIZED GRADE “A” MILK DAIRY FARMS I 2000 West Morehead St. Telephone 3-2153 , ident of the American Federation j of Labor, as principal speaker. The conference is being called ! to express the solidarity of Amer ican labor with the Palestinian Jewish Federation of Labor, in its work of building Palestine and turning the desert sands into the bibljpal “land of milk and honey.” The AFL, as well as many* in* ternational unions, and state and city central bodies, has gone on record repeatedly demanding that Great Britain, the mandatory power in Palestine, honor the terms of its mandate, and permit the free entry of Jews into Pal* estine. Recently they have urged the carrying out of President Truman’s recommendation that 100,000 survivors of the Nazi ex* termination camps be permitted to enter Palestine immediately. Organised labor’s sympathy with the aspirations of the Jew ish people to build Palestine into a free and democratic homeland is especially deep because of the important part played in the building of Palestine by the Pal estine Federation of Laobr — known as the Histadrtit. Histadrut, with 170,00 mem bers, who together with their families make up over 40 per cent of the Jewish population of Palestine, plays a determining part in the Palestinian economy.'
