Mr. Lonnie Dunn, son of Mr. Bal four Dunn, living near town, is play ing right tackle for the A. & M. foot ball team this season. Mr. Dunn is considered a very fine player. "When aWoman Wills" was play ed to a full house at Madry opera house Friday night. The audience was well pleased. Mr. Madry is surely giving a nice selection of en tertainments. Miss Pattie Leggett has recently sold her millinery stock to Mrs. A. M. Powers on our streets Tuesday, after a confinement to his room for several weeks by sickness. Mr. Powers looks thin but says he feels well and is gaining strength very fast. The well in front of Mr. Wilson Allsbrooks store has been greatly improved by taking out the old wood curb and putting down nice terra cotta tiling. Mr. Peyton Keel had the contract for improvement to the well and he has given the town a good job. We direct the attention of our readers to the law card of Mr. Albion Dunn appearing in our pro fessional card column this week. Mr. Dunn says that while he has withdrawn from the firm of Dunn & Dunn this does not mean that he has severed his connections with the good people of Halifax county, but that he will come here from time to time as occasion may demand. Miss Pattie Cotton, of Suffolk, Va., is visiting at the home of Mr. Noah Biggs. Miss Mabel Vaughan is visiting her sister, Mrs. J. H. Randolph, at House this week. Mr. and Mrs. R. L. Hardy and children went to Washington, N. C. Tuesday to spend a few days. Mrs. Mittie Hassell left last week to visit relatives in Eastern- North Carolina for the next several months. Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Randolph, of House, were here Sunday to see Mrs. Randolph's mother, Mrs. W. T. Vaughan. Solicitor R. G. Allsbrook. of Tar- boro, was a visitor at the home of his parents. Mr. and Mrs. R. T Allsbrook, several days last week. Mrs. J. C. Hardy and daughters, Alice and Cornelia, have returned home after a pleasant visit to Mrs. Hardy's parents at Essex, this county. Mr. and Mrs. R. J. Madry and children left Wednesday for Rich mond to attend the fair and will spend some time visiting friends in the city. Mrs. W. R. Bond, Messrs. J. E. Bowers, E. A. Leggett and D. E. Taylor attended the Johnson-Whita- ker marriage in Greenville Tuesday morning. Mr. J. C. Vanlandingham and bride (nee Miss Effie Haynes), of Raleigh, came down Tuesday to vis it his brothers, Messrs. T. H., W. T. and C. E. Vanlandinerham. Mr. Noah Biggs, Dr. R. M. John son, Mr. and Mrs. R. C. Josey and Mrs. Geo. W.. Bryan are attending the Roanoke Baptist Association in session at Washington, N. The Revival Meeting. The revival meeting that com menced at the Methodist Church last week is now well under way. Rev. John C. Wooten, prstor of Grace street Methodist Church, of Wilmington, arrived Monday and has been doing the preaching since that time.
