Philadelphia. Colonel Roosevelt carried Pennsylvania by a tabulated plurality of 38,073 votes over Covernor Wilson and of 129,073 votes over Presi dent Taft. The Washington party, the state name for Colonel Roosevelt's Progres sives, hold the balance of power in the Legislature. If they should combine with the Democrats the two parties might come together on some common ground and send an independent Dem ocrat to the United States Senate. The credit for the domination of the Roosevelt vote in Pennsylvania must be given to ex-Senator William Flinn, of Pittsburgh, the Bull Moose leader of the State. It was the western end of the State that rolled up the big Roosevelt pluralities. In Pittsburgh Senator Flinn, with the assistance of Mayor William Mages, piled up a Rooseveit vote equal to the combined vote of Wilson and Taft. WILSON CARRIES IOWA. Des Moines, la. MRS. WILSON FIRST TO CON GRATULATE PRESIDENT ELECT. Princeton, Nov. 6. As the big grand father's clock In the library of the Wilson home in Cleveland lane chimed out the hour of ten, Mrs. Woodrow Wilson placed her hands upon the shoulders of her husband and kissed him. "My dear, I want to be first to con gratulate ycu," she said. The Governor was standing with his hands folded and his back to the open log fire. It was the first definite word that l.e was the President-elect of the United States. The bulletins that re moved all doubts of the verdict were given to Mrs. Wilson by "Jack" Men delson, the telegrapher, who received the news oft the leased wire. Next to congratulate the Governor were his three daughters. Misses Mar garet. Bessie and Eleanor Wilson. Bubbling ever with happiness, the President-elect, fondly embraced each of his daughters. There Are Others. In our adolescent ine::per'ence w cherished the notion that hotel clerks and bcok store attaches were ths most conspicuous of the uruntclligrnts.
