A nioniitit'iit physician' of this counr try says that by manipulation, if be: gun in time, shrinking "of the limbst ran often be prevented. The time 10 begin the manipulation pfw:the at ' fected limbs is as soon as-the tenif perature returns to normal. In mild cases it is possible to begin massage within two weeks of the onset of the disease: in more , severe cases it should not be begun until after the tender stage is passed, but it should not be deferred later than --three months. - v . "A few years ago it was taught that if the case had "been neglected for six months there was no hope ol improvement. The teaching of the present time is that intelligent, per sistent, patient, passive motion, man ipulation, massage and muscle train ing will greatly improve some cases that have been neglected "for years. There is no magic about the treat ment; only patient, persistent man ipulation of the affected muscles will get results." Fort Won't Retract. , ..Washington, Sept. 14.
