MclNlorton was the only petitioner to appear before council , and his request to permit the con struction of a six-foot sidewalk on Sixth street, between Nun and' Church, was referred to the city en-' gineer and Council Bradshaw for an investigation and report. It is customary to build sidewalks of 'eight-foot width, but Mr. McNort-! on pointed out that it was his desire, and the desire of other property own- ! At 1 t1i , ers on mat diock to preserve tne trees that fringe the sidewalk and to make possible repair work to fences with out the necessity of pulling them out of the concrete. Council promised Mr. McNorton that everything pos-' sible would be done looking toward jthe granting of the request. j A $1,000 STREET CAR RIDE An administration, carrying $1,000 belonging to an estate, boarded a crowd ed street car in the city of Savannah. When he alighted from the car the money was gone. (Tarver vs. Torrence, 7 S. E., 177).
