WARSAW Warsaw, Nov. 11 The WomanVs Clubs held a meeting at the school building Monday afternoon. The school Betterment Department de cided to assist the Domestic Science Department of the school to raise funds for the purchase of extra equip ment. Other plans were discussed for raising money necessary for the club work. :o: The Music Department gave a pub lic concert on Friday night of last week. In addition to the best local ' talent, Mr. Bert Jones of Wilmington, was secured for several vocal selec tions. A carefully prepared program, which reflected Ihe splendid work of the directors, Mrs. Clarence Brown, was rendered. The club gave an in formal reception in honor of Mr. and Mrs. Jones at the residence of Mrs. Erie Best, after- the concert. :o:- Mrs. J. T. Gresham was hostess to the Ladies Aid Society or the Baptist church at her home on Church street, Monday afternoon from three till five o'clock. A special feature wa.s the miscellaneous shower for a bazaar to be be held the first week in Decem ber for the benefit of the society. A discussion of plans relative to hold's;; the bazaar occupied the time of the meeting, athe conclusion of which, coffeee and sandwiches were served by the hostess. :o: The ladies of the Presbyterian church gave a barbecue dinner for the benefit of the organ fund, on elec tion day, and were successful in rais ing a nice sum to pay on the hand some new organ, recently purchased. :o: Miss Anna Pierce left Saturday for New York and Boston where she will spend the winter with her brother, Lieut. Pierce, Master Jack Pierce, Mrs. Chas. W. Kornegay of Newport News, Va., visited Miss Mankie Noble, while en route to HallSville. :o: Mrs. Mary Simmons of Faison, vis ited Mrs. T. B. Pierce last week. :o: Mrs. M. H. Wooten is in Columbia, S. C, visiting her daughter, Mrs. Fred Hines. :o:- The many friends of Mrs. H. Fai son Pierce will be glad to know that her niece, Miss Noel, of Mississippi, who has been critically ill for sev eral weeksat Mrs. Pierce's home here, is considerably better. The annual Faison Fair, given un der the auspices of the Knights of Pythias, was held at the school build ing at Faison, Thursday and Friday of this week. There was a fine agricul tural exhibit which consisted of a good showing of fullTgrowft vegetables, such as garden peas, ttring beabs, squash, lettuce, spinach, tomatoei, Irish and sweet potatoes as well as corn, tobacco and cotton. The stock exhibit showed some fine specimens especially as to bogs and chickens. The handwork anu cooking exhibits were especially good.
