the third liberty t loan loan is $4,170,

was about 17,000,000. Every, federal
reserve district oversubscribed, the

TWO NEGROES LYNCHED
BY GEORGIA "CITIZENS.
Valdosta, Ga., May 18. Will Head
and v Will Thompson, negroes, impli
cated in the. murder of Hampton
Smith and shooting of Mrs. Smith, at
Barney, Thursday, were lynched bJ
Indignant citizens of that locality la-oi
night, it was learned today. Head is
said to have confessed the entire plot
against the Smiths.
Head is said to have stated that
they stole the rifle from the Smith
home while the couple were at sup
per. After the shooting Mrs. Smith
was maltreated and left for dead.
Head was strung up at a cross
roads near Troupeville, while Thomp
son ; was captured and hanged at
Camp Ground church, below Morven.
Sidney Johnson, another negro im
plicated in the attack, by Mrs. Smith,
ia reported to be surrounded by posses
in i Knights Creek swamp, near here.
Another lynching is expected if he is
captured.
If there is anything "In the way of
leadership that th Giants have not
