RIGOR INCREASES AT HUN REPRISAL CAMPS Geneva, Switzerland, Sunday, June . ruignt Tencn soimers who es caped- from Camp Wisburg, near Mann heim, and arrived here yesterday, re port that there has been increasing rigor during the last three months in the "reprisal camps" In Germany. The British troops particularly are suffer ing, while the French are fairly well treated. The treatment, the escaped prisoners declare, becomes more se vere after each air raid on the Rhine towns, the Germans hoping thus, an officer member of the party said, to cause a cessation of the allied raids. The officer added that the Germans were exposing the lives of both allied officers and men by concentratjfig them near ammunition factories likely to be attacked. But, he added, "we prefer to be killed by our own bombs rather than give in. Let the raids continue." Roofing Time V$t; - Now is the time" to look over your roofs. Front 1 1 J SUPPLEMENTARY PETITION FILED BY TIDEWATER CO. Investigations which have been' made by the Tidewater Power com pany since the request ' was made to the corporation commission for in creased rates have caused the com pany to send in a supplemental peti tion asking the corporation commis sion to fix the rate for city fares at some figure which the commission finds proper between 7 and 10 cents, with tickets to be sold at the rate of four for 25 cents or three for 25 cents. It is understood that public service corporations throughout North Caro- ina are all finding it necessary to ask or 7 cent cash fares as a minimum. and petitions have either been filed or will be filed with the corporation commission within the, next few days. in Wilmington, Del. which has be come a large shipbuilding center, the public utilities commission have de cided to make effective June 10th a rate of 7 cents for a single trolley fare or four tickets for 25 cents. In connection with the increased rate of fare which it is proposed will be charged to Wrlghtsville Beach this season, it is of interest to learn that the round trip fare between the city of Savannah and Tybee Island, which has heretofore ben 40 cents, has been increased to $1.20, or an in crease of 200 per cent. While this seems to be a big advance, it only brings the rate up to that being charged for passenger service under similar conditions throughout the United States.
