Windsor Police Chief Jus tin Jackson said officers were dispatched to the Windsor WPD nabs 8 math bags Food Mart located at 213 U.S. 13 North at approximately 3:12 a.m. Sept. 22. Upon arriving, Windsor Police Cpl. Blake Mizelle ob served the front glass door had been broken. Sgt. Jason Thomas arrived and the two officers checked the inside of the building, but found no one. Later the same morning, Windsor Police Officer Chris Leggett obtained video foot age from the store’s security camera. He was able to receive video and a photo of the sus pect. Probation Officer Sheldon Rhines was able to identify the suspect as John Mitchell of Republican. Warrants have been ob tained charging Mitchell in the break-in. “Anyone with information as to John Mitchell’s where abouts is asked to contact the Windsor Police Depart ment,’’ Lt. Windsor Police Chief Justin Jackson said three of his officers were able to apprehend two suspects involved in attempting to furnish contraband to prison ers incarcerated at Ber tie Correctional Insti tute (BCI). On Sept. 23, Windsor Police Officer Chris Leg gett responded to a call of a suspicious person located on Cooper Hill Road near BCI. Upon his arrival. Of ficer Leggett found a vehicle parked in the parking lot of a busi ness. The officer went to the car and spoke with the occupant, Dulce Rodriquez, who was reportedly acting nervous. Lt. The fifth Annual Aulander Peanut Festival was held last Saturday at the town’s walk ing trail and recreational fa cilities on Rice Avenue, in Aulander. The day’s festivities began at 7 a.m. with vendor set-up. Registration began for the 5K started at 8 a.m. and the 5K and fun run began at 9 a.m. The opening ceremony started at 10 a.m. with the presentation of the colors by the Bertie High School JROTC, WINDSOR - A Jamesville man is behind bars fol lowing the search of a residence on Cooper Hill Road in Windsor. Bertie County Sher iff John Holley said the Down East Drug Task Force executed a search warrant at a residence on the 1400 block of Cooper Hill Road. As a result of the search, illegal con trolled substances in cluding heroin, cocaine and marijuana were lo cated at the residence. Bertie County Sher iff’s Office Narcotics Sgt. Martin Phelps is the case agent, and charged Rakeem Deondre Wil liams of Jamesville in the incident. Williams faces charges of posses sion with intent to sell and deliver heroin, pos session with intent to sell and deliver cocaine, possession with intent to sell and deliver mari juana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
