Betty Lou Hassell Eure / j HURRICANE RELIEF EFFORT] Sponsor by Ttw OomiB Members of the Fourth and Fifth Districts of the Masonic Order and the Fourth and Fifth Districts of the Order of Eastern Star are appreciative of all of the donations and support received during their recent relief efforts to those affected by hurricane Florence. Brother Angeano “Pep” Leary and District Deputy Grand Master Barry Anderson spearheaded the effort. Fourth and Fifth District Deputy Grand Matrons Marion Peele and Sonya Harrell also helped. Donations were received from citizens of the county, local businesses including Advanced Auto, Food Lion and others also donated. A tractor trailer filled with supplies were delivered to Wilmington, one of the most devastated areas, Saturday, Oct. 13. COLERAIN - Betty Lou Hassell Eure, 74, of 2907 Hwy 45 South, went peacefully to be with her Lord and Sav ior Jesus Christ with her family by her side on October 21, 2018, at her home. Mrs. Eure was bom in Bertie County on Oc tober 25, 1943, and was the daughter of the late Raymond Harrison and Annie Maty Simpson Hassell. Employed with Carolina Telephone for 17 years, she later furthered her education and be gan a career in teaching. 'Through the years she taught Pre-K and First Grade classes at Ahoskie Christian School, and C.S. Brovm, Rich Square- Creecy, and Aulander Elementary Schools. She was a member of Christian Harbor Baptist Church, and The Order of the Eastern Star, holding dual membership in both the Ahoskie ^91 and Har- reUsviUe #99 Chapters. Surviving are her husband of over 53 years, Cur tis Stallings Eure; her daughter, Mary Ann Howell and husband, Jamie, of Como; her son, Raymond Curtis Eure and wife, Nicole, of Harrellsville; two sisters, Rebecca Godwin and husband, Ben, of Co field, and Thelma Vann and husband, 'Thomas, of Eure; and three grandchildren. Carter Eure and special fiiend, Chloe Dunn, Reagan Howell, and Reese Howell, and many nieces and nephews. Fimeral services will be held Friday at 2:00 p.m. in Christian Harbor Baptist Church and will be con ducted by her pastor, 'The Rev. Joe Fiitrell. Burial win follow in the Harrellsville Cemetery. 'The fami ly will received friends 'Thursday from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. in the church, and all other times at the resi dence. Until Further Notice Road Closure The North Carolina Department of Transportation closed Jeff White Road in Bertie County on Monday, Sept. 24. The road closure is to allow the replacement of Bridge #34 over East- most Swamp. The road should reopen to traffic by Jan. 30, 2019. Donations Being Accepted Donations are currently being accepted tor victims of Hurri cane Florence. Items needed are bottled water, cleaning sup plies, Clorox and nonperishable food items. Logo Contest The Good Shepherd Food Pantry of Bertie County, along with the Bertie County Arts Council, is hosting a logo design con test. The contest is for the logo for the Good Shepherd Food Pantry of Bertie County. There will be cash prizes. The deadline for all entries is Monday, Nov. 5.
