The Social Service Workers of
the , Franklin Methodist church will
give a "Jitney Supper" in the office
of the Nantahala Power and Light
company Saturday night, February
24. Serving will start at 6 o'clock.
The proceeds will be for the bene
fit of the Methodist church.

Haines City, Flai, to spend several
days with Mr. Angel's brother,
Lewis Angel, and Mrs. Angel.
Mis Mary Ellen Bryson, of Can
ton, has been spending several days
here the guest of Miss Helen Shep
herd. -

from Asheville Tuesday for a short
visit with , his mother, Mrs. T. B.
Shepherd.
Mrs. Sallie ,E. Penland and
xlaughter, Mrs. George B. Patton,
spent Wednesday afternoon of the
pait week in Sylva visiting Mrs.
Walter Hall, Mrs, Penland's grand
daughter. Mrs. E. H. Franks, Avho has been
seriously ill at her home here on

Mrs. S. H. Lylc, Jr., and small
daughter, Ann, left Sunday for
Gainesville, Fla., where she will
spend, several weeks visiting her
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles
Hendrix.
Mrs. Sallie E; Penland and son,
Ralph, Mrs. J'. J. Conley and
daughter, Miss Charlotte Conley,
attended the funeral of W B. Con
ley at Andrews Friday afternoon.

spending two weeks visiting rel
atives and friends in LaGrange, Ga.

went an operation for the removal
of her appendix," at Angel Hospital
Friday, was reported to be resting

bed this week with measles.

Harley and Floyd Ramsey, of
Tellico, were among the business
visitors here last week.
Mrs. C. C. Cunningham, who has
been confined to her' room for
sickness, is able to be out again.
Mrs. Martin Jones is confined ,to
her bed with influenza, at her
home on Bonny Crest.

Miss Catherine Porter spent Sun
day afternoon in Bryson City, the
guests of Dr. and Mrs. R. M. Wal
droop. Mrs. Paul Cunningham, of Rain
bow Springs, who underwent an
operation for the removal of her
appendix at Angel Hospital Sunday
night, was reported to be resting

A. R. Todd spent last Sunday in
Asheville visiting friends. He was
accompanied on his return by Mrs
Todd and daughter, Mary Rose,
who spent last week in Asheville
visiting Mrs. Todd s parents, Mr,
and Mrs. S. F. Roberts.

came here Monday to spend sev
eral months with her parents, Mr,
