SOCIAL ACTIVITIES and COMINGS AND GOINGS FRANKS-SCOTT Miss Alice Franks and Mr. Ralph Scott, both of Franklin, Route 4, were quietly married July 1 by the Rev. Thomas Carter at the home of the bride. Mrs. Scott is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs; Will Franks, and Mr. Scott is the son of Mr. and Mrs. B. H. Scott. The couple are residing at pres ent with the groom's parents Mr. and Mrs. John W. Edwards and Miss Elizabeth Single plan to go to Hayesville Thursday night for the purpose of organizing a young Democratic club. Among the out-of-town visitors here last week to attend the fun- eral of the Rev. J. R. Pendergrass were: Mr. and Mrs. 0. V. Hill and family, Mr. and Mrs. Carl G. Hill, Rev. and Mrs. A. V. Joyner, Mr. and Mrs. Quentin Smathers, Mr and Mrs. L. R. Lovelace, Mr. and Mrs. P.. C. Holland, Mrs. R. L. Snyder and Miss Pearl Stamey, all of Canton. C. L. Potts, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Potts, left last week for Raleigh. He has a position with the Baptist State board for two months. Miss Timoxena Sloan, who has tbeen living in Dayton, Ohio, spent several days here last week visiting her mother, Mrs. J. S. Sloan, re turning to Dayton, Friday. She was accompanied by her mother and sister, Miss Eleanor Sloan, who will spend a week in Dayton. Mrs. Oscar Ashe and son, Fitz hugh, arrived Wednesday of the past week from Portland, Ore., for a visit with Mrs. Ashe's parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Barnard. Richard Sloan, of Camilla, Ga., spent the week-end here with his family, who have recently mpved into an apartment of Mrs. Roy G. Beshears on west Main street. Mrs. W: F. Peacock, Miss Blanche Peacock, Col. and Mrs Russell Ross and Dr. Harlow Pea cock, all of Eastman, Ga., and Miss Rena Bedoe, of Chester, Ga., spent the past week here the guests of Mr. and Mrs. W. R. Cunningham, at their home on Franklin Route 1. Mrs. Wellman al so has been visiting Mr. and Mrs. Landrum recently, having come up trom Uaytona Beach, Fla., for a short stay en route to Defiance. O.
