MISS BLANCHE CABE WEDS
MR. GRADY GARNER
Of cordial interest to a wide cir
cle of friends 'was the marriage of
Miss Blanche Cabe, lovely daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Cabe, Route
2, to Mr. Grady Garner, son of
Mr. and Mrs. C. L. Garner, of
Franklin and Andrews. The mar
riage was solemnized last Saturday
evening, the Rev. B. W. LeBer,
pastor of the bride, performing the
ceremony in Clark's Chapel Metho
dist church.
The bride entered with her fath
er to the strains of Lohengrin's
"Wedding March." She was gown
ed in. an exquisite ensemble of
powder blue crepe with white ac
cessories, wearing a large gardenia
corsage tied with white satin rib
bon. Accompanied by Mrs. Henry
Cabe on the organ, Mrs. R. M.
Hudson sang the immortal wedding
song, "0 Promise Me." During tke
ceremony Mrs. Cabe enhanced the
beauty and solemnity of the oc
casion with "0 Perfect Love," play
ed with muted notes.
The church was attractively dec
r.r:itpd with natural flowers, and an
improvised altar was made with
budelia and tinted Queen Anns
lace, set off with white candelabra.
Mrs. Garner is a . graduate of
Franklin High School and" Western
Carolina Teachers College. She
has taught in Macon county for the
oast few years.
Immediately after the ceremony,
the couple left for a ten day
honeymoon. On their return they
will make their home at Andrews,
where Mr. Garner is connected
with the Setate Highway depart

MARRIAGE ANNOUNCED
Of interest to many people in
Macon county is the recent .an
nouncement of the marriage of
Miss Mae Morton, daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Morton, of
Rocky Mount, N. C and Mr. Ot
tis Freeman, son of the Rev. and
Mrs. H. C. Freeman, of Farming
ton, N. C. The marriage took
place March 31 at the home of
Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Anderson,
friends of the young couple, at
Clyde, N. C. Only a few intimate
friends were present. The cere
mony was performed by the Rev.
M. E. Leftwich.
The bride is a graduate of the
Rocky Mount high school and last
year was a student at Western
Carolina Teachers College, Cullo
whee. 1
Mr. Freeman, who with his par
ents lived in Franklin until a few
years ago, has many friends in this
county. After being graduated from
the Franklin high school he attend
ed Weaver College, Weaverville,
and Western Carolina Teachers
College, Cullowhee, where he was
graduated in 1934 with the bachelor
of science degree. Last year he
was a member, of the faculty of
the Clyde high school.
Mr. and Mrs. Freeman will be at
home after August 20 at Weaver
ville, where Mr. Freeman will be
teacher of science and athletic di
rector in the high school.
BIRTHDAY PARTY GIVEN
FOR YOUNG VISITOR
Mrs. L. C. .Mclvor, of Jackson
ville, Fla., who is spending the sum
mer at the Jones residence on
West Main street, entertained Wed
nesday afternoon with a lawn par
ty celebrating the seventh birthday
anniversary of Miss Alsina Zapf,
who is visiting Mrs. Mclvor.
The lawn was gayly decorated
with balloons, and yellow and pink
table decorations were used. Stick
candy was given the children as
favors.
After presents for little Miss Zapf
had been opened various games
were played. Dainty refreshments
of candy, ice cream, cake and punch
were then served.

ner and children, Billy and Anne;
Mr. and Mrs. Richard Jones and

CIRCLE NO. 2 MEETS
Circle No. 2 of the Woman's
Missionary society of the First
Baptist church held its regular
monthly meeting Thursday of last
week at the home of Mrs. W. G.
Wilkie with 13 members and two
visitors present.
Mrs. J. H. Carelock was leader
in charge of the program.
After the meeting a social hour
was enjoyed during which Mrs.
Wilkie served delicious refresh
ments. ,

Miss Jane Angel, daughter of

'Ja., on Thursday, July 4. They
were accompanied to Clayton by
Mrs. Hiawatha Belk, a cousin of
the bride.
Misses Lola and Jessie Ramsey,
accompanied by their uncle, Harley

.ieraldine and Willie Mae Hurst, of
Montana, spent the past week on a
trip to the coast. They visited the
Isle of Palms at Charleston, S. C,
and Carolina Beach, at Wilmington.
Their return route was by way of
Raleigh, where they .visited the
Capital building.
Mr. and Mrs. S. E. McConnell
and family, of Atlanta, Ga., are
spending the summer at the home
of Mrs. H. T. Mozeley on Bonny
Crest.
Mrs. Jud Bradley and two daugh
ters, Malyn and Dorothea, of Los
Angeles, Calif., arrived last week
for a two months visit with Mrs.
Bradley's parents, Mr. and Mrs.
W. M. Breedlove, and Mr. and
Mrs. L. M. Bradley, at their homes
on Oak Grove.
Mrs. T. M. Plonk and sister,
Miss Margaret McGuire, spent one
day last week in Asheville shop
