AT KENO PARTY
HIGHLANDS, Nov, 25.—Approx
imately $20 was raised at a keno
party given at the Potts House
Tuesday night imder the auspices
of the Woman’s Auxiliary of the
Highlands Episcopal church. Seven
ty-seven persons attended.
' More than 30 prizes, consisting
of items of food for the Thanks
giving dinner, were awarded. Turk
eys were won by Luther \V. Rice,
Jr., and Bob Billingsly.
Pumpkin pie and cocoa were serv
ed at the close of the playing.
VARIOUS CLASSES PLANNED
BY SATULAH CLUB
Mrs. T. J, O’Neil, Macon county
home demonstration agent, will meet
with members of the Satulah club
on Friday, IJec. 4, to cooperate
with the club in forming recrea
tional, industrial and educational
classes, according to an announoe-
rnent by Miss Bernice Durgin, club
president. Classes are planned in
art, knitting, croclieting, sewing,
fancy work, Wock printing and
other subjects. All persons inter
ested in any of these classes are
invited to attend the; meeting on
Dec. 4. The classes will be free.
LUNCH ROOM POPULAR
The lunch room conducted for
pupils and teachers of the High
lands school is daily increasing in
popularity. At last report, 155 per
sons were served.
Frank Cook, George Marett, John
William Baty, and Geter Buchan-
nan. The party expected Mr. Wide-
man, of Highlands and West Palm
Beach, to join them in Summer
ville. The Big Swamp is widely
known for its game and parties
from Highlands frequently take ad
vantage of the hunting there during
the fall season.
HUNTING IN GEORGIA
Another party from here, includ
ing Harold Rideout, Charlie Potts
and Will W. Edwards, went hunt
ing in Georgia during the first part
of the week.

The annual deer hunt m Pisgah
national forest was very much en
joyed by the four hunters who went
from here last week, as each mem
ber of the party was successful ui
the hunt. Carl Zoellnor, Warren
Wilson, Will W. Edwards and D.
W. Wiley each returned to High
lands with a deer. Bob Elrod of
Atlanta, brother of Dewey Elrod,
was also in the party which went
from here Wednesday.

their home in Atlanta Sunday.
Mr. and Mrs. S. T. Marett have
returned to their home here after
a short visit in Atlanta.
^iliss Bess Hines left last week
end for West Palm Beach, Florida,
where she expects to obtain em
ployment for the winter.
Mr. and Mrs. A. L. Bliss left
Sunday for their hom« in Washing
ton, D. C., after being in Highlands
for several months. They expect to
return here in the spring.
Mr. and Mrs. Jack M. Hall spent
last w^eek-end in Hartwell, Ga.,
with Mrs. Hall’s family.
Mr. and Mrs. R. B. Eskrigg re
cently spent several days at their
home on Satulah mountain. They
left for New" Orleans on Tuesday,
but expect to get back to Highlands
early next year.
Mr. and Mrs. H. D. Jessup of
Delwood, N. C., formerly of High
lands, arrived Monday afternoon
to spend Thanksgiving week with
Mrs. J. Z. Gottwals and Mr. and
Mrs. W. F. Beadle.
Mr. and Mrs. H. D. Randall, of
Cincinnati, who own one of High
lands’ fine summer residences,
werg at Hotel Edyards for a few
days recently. They were accom
panied by Mrs. George L. Bell,
Mrs Randall’s mother, of Atlanta.
Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Root left Fri
day for Kansas City, where they
will visit for several weeks with
relatives and friends.
