The bride’s pastor, the Rev. J. A. Flanagan, officiated, using the ring ceremony. The vows were spoken before an improvised altar of native greenery. Candel abra, holding burning tapers, which were lighted by Miss Bess Cun conimunity. He holds a position -’U. the u. S. IS at present stationed in Arkansas. Airs. M. D. Eilhngs, who 'is in Angel hospital sultering from an infection of the right eye, was reported Tuesday to be somewhat improved. Before the entrance of the bridal couple, Mrs, J, A, Planagan sang, “The Sweetest Story Ever Told,” The “Bridal Chorris” from Lohengrin was used as processional and Men delssohn’s Wedding March as a recessional. Traumerei was played softly during the ceremony. The bride and bridegroom enter ed together. The bride wore a go- ing-away suit of midnight blue with steel gray accessories. Completing her lovely costume was a shoulder bouquet of Sweetheart roses. Immediately ,after the ceremony Mr. and Mrs. Siler left for Charles ton and other points. The bride is a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs, George Cunning ham, She received her education in the Franklin high school and at Western Carolina Teacher’s college at Cullowhee, She has taught suc cessfully in the Alacon county schools and in Eastern North Car olina, Her attractive personality has won for her a host of friends. Air. and Mrs. George Slagle. Airs, Frank Calloway left Sat urday for Albany, Ga,, for a visit with her niece, Mrs, E, E. Watkins, who was reported to be quite ill. Atiss Betty Leach, a student in Florida State College for Women, at Tallahassee, arrived Saturday for a visit witk her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Gus Leadi. Mrs. S. E, Eaton, -wko has re signed her position as a teacher in the Franklin school, left Tues day for Jacksonville, Fla,, to join her husband, who is living there. Miss Virginia Smith, director of music in the schools at Roanoke Rapids, N. C,, came home Satur day for a visit with her parents. Dr, and Airs, Frank T. Smith, at their home on Bidwell street. Miss Laura Jones, of Raleigk, is here for a visit with her mother, Mrs, George A, Jones, Aliss Grace Conley, a student at Converse college, Sparta,nburg, S, C,, came home Saturday to spend the holidays with her parents, Mr, and Mrs, J, S. Miss Helen Seay, who has been nursing in Newark, N. J., arrived Thursday of last week for a visit with her mother, Mrs. C. A. Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Welch and daughter, Pauline, spent a couple of days in Durham last week. Afiss Grace Carpenter, who is teaching school at Scaly, is visit ing her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. AI. Carpenter. Mrs. S. W. Mendenhall has re turned to her home in East Frank lin after spending a week in the eastern part of the state visiting relatives and friends.
