Charles du Biguon resigned as city clerk here at a. meeting of the mayor and board of commissioners held at the town office last 'Fri day evening, and Mrs. H. G. Storey was appointed in his stead. Mrs, Storey had been working as Mr, du Biguon's assistant for several days prior to his resignation. Mrs. Fred Edwards and, Estelle Edwards left Sunday to attend the graduation of Edison . Picklesimer from Wake Forest college. Miss Bess. Hines is home again after having spent the late winter and spring months in Florida. Paddock like two million while in Franklin on a week-end vacation. If we had our wish the Paddock family would spend every week-end vacation at the club. Dick Jones and Mark Dowdle defeated Harley Lyle and Jess Conley in a clos, hard fought golf match Saturday afternoon. Harley hasn't been back since. Airs. S. L. Dickson, of Clayton, is sporting a beautiful new golf bag. . . Mrs. Jim Perry, Airs. Fred Sloan, Airs. Sam Alendenhall and Airs. Aubrey Watson were out in force on the links Tuesday afternoon. Ann. Lyle and Baby sister were out in twin yellow bathing suits. They are a cute pair. Harry .Higgins and Annie Laurie Bain got up the nerve to go swim ming. They say it was wonderful and will be back often. Gilmer Crawford says he expects to start playing tennis again after his plowing is finished. C. S. Rice enjoyed the tennis courts Sunday-afternoon with Aliss Marian Derrick, of Clayton. Aliss Derrick serves a mean ball. S. K. Greenwood and Tony Welch not only played tennis but also cooled off in the pool. They are both good all around athletes. Brant and Smith defeated Nichols and Welsh 8 to 10 in doubles. Every game went to deuce several times. . Charles Hunnicutt has the making of a good tennis player. Come out often, Charles. That is what it takes to get on the Davis cup team. Nichols and Hunnicutt defeated Brant and Wasilik 6-1, 4-6, 6-2. The match was hard fought from start to finish. Summer must be .here. Betty Rogers and Vic Perry , have started swimming. West's Mill Perry Matlock returned to his home at Austell, Gl, Saturday after spending a week visiting his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Mat lock. Airs. E. B.
