Church, to nounce the marriage ol their aaugn- make plans and preparations for ter, Miss Elizabeth Barnard, ot Franklin and Salisbury, to Walter Hearn, of Salisbury. The wedding took place in York, S. C, on Sat urday, February 19, in the presence of a small assemblage of close friends. Mrs. Hearn, the youngest daugh ter of Mr. and Mrs. Barnard, is a graduate of the Franklin high school and of the Portland Business college in Portland, Ore. She' now holds a government posi tion in the social security office in Salisbury. Mr. Hearn is a son of George W. Hearn and the late Mrs. Hearn, of Salisbury, He is now an em ployee of the North Carolina Rayon Finishing company of Salisbury. He was for several months ' em ployed in Franklin and made many friends whilehere. GARDEN CLUB MEETS WITH MRS. RIMMER The regular Majch monthly meet ing of the Garden club met Mon day afternoon at 3 o'clock at the; home of Mrs. R. M. Rimmer, on West Main street, with Mrs. Pearl Wright as associate hostess. Mrs. R. M. Rimmer, president, presided over the business session of the meeting-and appointed a Macon Theatre Matinees 3:30 P. M. Evening Shows 7:00 P. M. SHOWING FROM 1:30 TO 11 P. M. Rogers, ' Each member was asked to en ter one or more plants and they are to be judged as the healthiest, most unusual and the most beauti ful. At this time, there Will , also be plants of various kinds for sale, which are to be donated by the members. ' After-the business session was through, the meeting was turned over to Mrs. Zeb' W. Conley, chairman of the program committee, and those taking part were : Mrs J. S. Sloan, who read an interest ing article on "Russell and His Lupine," which was taken from the "House Beautiful," a magazine which is being used by the club this year. Mrs. .Lester S. Conley gave a sketch of the life of -Helen Adams Keller, from the Helen Keller port folio, as a national tribute to Miss Keller and to the American Foun dation for the Blind. Some inter esting points on her early life were brought' out and Miss Anne Sullivan, governess for the blind child, and who was also partially bliiM ; herself, played some impor tant parts in the early education of Miss Keller. Mrs. Zeb W. Conlev. chairman of the program committee, tender ed her resignation and Mrs. W A. Rogers was appointed to take her place for the remainder of. the year. At the' conclusion of the meeting the hostesses served ' delicious re freshments. The four .new members who joined the- club at this time were: Mrs. John R. Faison, Mrs. I. L. Easton, Mrs. Lee Waldrooo and Miss Verna Greene. Others attend ing were: Mrs. W. C. Penn, Mrs. Frank Higdon.'Mrs. J. S. Sloan, Mrs. Jack Weymah, Mrs. H. E. Church, Mrs. L. H. Page, Mrs. W. All were appropriately costumed and all the parts were screamingly funny Lester Arnold and Lou Davis re ceived loud applause as the1 typical bad boys, and Mrs. Ben Woodruff and Mrs. Carl Cabe showed great ability as "Flappers of 1880.? . This entertainment, with the same cast, will be presented at the Iotla school at a date to be announced later. "'. . The proceeds of this show will go to "the WPA lunch room at the Franklin school. MISS EDNA BRYSON GIVES DINNER FOR FATHER Miss Edna Bryson entertained with a dinner, at her home at West's Mill Sunday honoring her father, TV" C Bryson, on his 87th birthday anniversary. Bryson and children,-Mr..and Mrs. Carr Bryson and children, Miss Emma Lee Tal lent, all of West's Mill; Terrell Bryson, of Detroit, Mich., and Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Pressley and children, of Canton. Miss Helen Warden, who Is tak ing training in the Charleston Gen eral hospital in Charleston, West Va., is spending several days in Franklin visiting friends. Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Franks and son, Morris, left Saturday morning for Tuscon, Ariz., where they plan to make their home in the future. Mrs. H. O. Cozad and daughter, Miss Margaret Cozad, and Rufus Snyder spent the week-end in Al bany, Ga., with Mrs. Cozad's sister, Mrs. E. E. Watkins. They were ac companied as far as Atlanta by Mrs. Rufus Snyder who spent the week-end there with her aunt, Miss Lula Enloe. On their return Mon day they were accompanied by J. A. Conley, .who had been in Albany tor three weeks visiting his daugh ter, Mrs Watkins. Miss Lucy Sue Gray and Miss Susan McCIure spent the past week-end in Atlanta. . Mr. and Mrs. A. L. McLean, of West's . Mill, spent the week-end visiting' friends in Asheville. Mrs. Walter Dalton has , return ed to her home at Leatherman. after spending a while; in Macon, Ga., with her daughter, Mrs. Al bert Stevens, and Mr. Stevens. Mrs. Joe Sweatman, of Cartooge chaye, who has been ill for several "weejes, was brought to the home oi t her - daughter, Mrs. Manson Stiles,' brt Bidwell street, where she" can -be hear medical attention. "'i Franklin friends of Mrs. Noryin C. Duncan will regret to learn that she is suffering from a broken' jaw caused by a . fair when . she fainted a,t her home in Asheville one day recently. The jaw has. been wired, .and she is being fed through a tube, and it is thought that she will be unable-to speak for about three months. The Duncans live at 9 Charles , street, Asheville. Births Mr. and Mrs. George Carpenter announce the birth of a daughter, Fannie Ada, at their home on Coweta, on Tuesday, March 1.
