On June 18 a tour of Ko- tarians is coming thfougli Frank lin, and Mr. Bridgers pointed out that it will be a good opportunity for Franklin and the Rotarians to play host. One-fifth of the tour ists last year said they were on their second or third trip to this vacationland, which is not so ma jestic as the Rockies, but more friendly. Worldwide travelers have said the most imposing view is the panorama from Wayah Bald. Town Improvement According to Mr. Bridgers, tour ists will not stay in a town with dirty streets, unsightly vacant lots, and above all, dirty rest rooms in filling stations. Cordiality by the citizens is also important. He com plimented Franklin on the improve ment in the appearance of Main street during the past year, with its new Ma,con Theatre ; Burrell's Garage building," the fresh paint on the buildings, such as the Dean, house, Munday Hotel,, E. K. Cun ningham, Reeves" Hardware, Frank lin bank building, Macon Hard ware, Sanders,' Cagle's Cafe; Pen dergrass' Grocery; Kelly's Tea Room and Gift Shop; and the Wil lis': Apartments. The courthouse and .several other buildings could be . made more attractive with a coat of paint, it was added. The tourist business has just started for this section of the country and each year will see greater demand for . more and bet ter accommodations. The new in formation booth on. Main street was admired by Mr. Bridgers as being a necessary forward step by the Town of Franklin. Bill Johnson, ofThe Franklin Press, was welcomed as a new member. and Mrs. Claude Parrish of Swain, last Sunday Tommy, small son of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Potts, who has been critically ill, is much improved.
