RECEIVE DOCTOR'S DEGREE

Georgia School, of Medicine on
June 9 in Augusta has been re
ceived from Joe J. Arrendale, A.
B., M. D., who takes his degree at
this time.
Dr. Arrendale spent last sum
mer in Franklin as an assistant
at Angel hospital during his vaca
tion. He is the son of John t Ar
rendale, a former farm agent in
Macon county, and Mrs. Arrendale,
and spent part of his boyhood in
Franklin. His many friends con
gratulate him on the attainment of
his degree of Doctor of Medicine.

Billy Wilkie, son of " Mrs. W.
G. Wilkie, has returned to his
base at Corpus Christi, Texas,
after visiting his mother in Frank
lin and his sisters in Asheville.
Billy volunteered for service last
June and was first sent to New
port News, Va. He is in training
for aeronautical mechanic. He has
just reached his' 21st birthday.
Mr., and Mrs. Ben Woodruff re
turned Sunday from Columbia, S.

Hunt on Saturday afternoon. Mrs.
Woodruff and small son have been
visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs.
W. M. Hunt for several weeks,

for Miami, Fla., where she will
spend two weeks with relatives
and friends.

for nurses at Charlotte last

tives and friends in Winston-Salem.
Mrs. M. A. Henderson, of David
son, is. spending the summer with
her; sisttr, Miss . Annie Slagle, at
Babbling Brook farm.
Albert H. Rogers, who has been
stationed at Norfolk, Va., taking
a special course as machinist is
here for a two weeks visit with
his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles
A. Rogers, on Franklin Route 2.
Mrs. Woodrow Franklin has re-,
turned to Prentiss from Asheville
for an extended visit to her par
ents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles A,
Rogers, while her husband is work
ing on a construction job at Car
thage. Mrs. Amos Harris left Tuesday
for High Point for a visit to Mr.
and Mrs. Rufus Joines.
The Misses Eliza and Louise
Siler spent Thursday and Friday
in Andrews with the former's sis
ter, Mrs. G. G. Phillips and Mr.
Phillips and in Robbinsville with
her brother, William Siler and
Mrs. Siler.
Mrs. Ross Dean and two chil
dren left Thursday for Columbia,
S. C, to join Mrs. Dean's hus
band, who is employed there.
Mr. and Mrs. Norman Calloway
and family have returned to their
home in Helen, Pa., after a visit
with Mr. Calloway's parents, Mr.
and Mrs. E. T. Calloway. On their
return they-were accompanied by
Mr. Calloway's sister, Miss Lucille
Calloway, who will spend a month
there.

Asheville Saturday to be with her
brother, Charlie C. West, who was
a patient in Angel hospital.

went an operation for the removal
of her tonsils Thursday.

ed to her home at Etna, after be
ing a patient in Angel hospital

home on Iotla, after a visit with

Mrs. J. A. Horsley, Sr., in Daw
