Wardlaw will arrive this week and
will make their home in the Pres
ibyferian manse.
Mr, Wardlaw will take up his
duties as pastor of the Franklin
Presbyterian church, holding his
f irst service on Sunday morning at
II o'clock.
Kev. and Mrs. Wardlaw who
was the 'former Miss Annie Lee
Jackson, were married last Fri
day in Clinton, S. C, home of the
bride. .

ATTEND GRADUATION
Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Pannell at
tended the graduation of their
daughter, Hazel, at the Rabun Gap
Nacoochee school' on Monday, May
26. This is the third daughter they
have had to graduate. Their eldest.
Miss Gladys Pannell, a teacher in
Macon county schools, is a gradur
ate of Western Carolina Teachers
college, and their second daughter,
Mrs. Carrie Lee Rame'y, who is
employed by the draft .board at
Clayton, Ga., finished a. course at
the Athens Business college. 1

ENGAGEMENT OF
MrSS BRYSON ANNOUNCED
Mr. and Mrs. C. T. Bryson of
Franklin have announced the en
gagement of their eldest daughter,
Miss Mildred Irene Bryson, to
Stanford J. Krom, of Ellenville,
N. Y.
The wedding ceremony will be
solemnized' in early July at the
Franklin Methodist church.
Miss Bryson is a graduate of
the Franklin high school and of
Brevard college, Brevard. She is
employed i,n the office of the tax
supervisor of Macon county.
Mr. Krom is the only son of
Mr. and Mrs. J. S. Krom. For
several months he has been em
ployed at the jUtah Construction
project at Nantahala-.

The Baptist Woman's Missionary
Society "of the Franklin Baptist
church will meet at the church on
Thursday afternoon, June 5, for
its regular missionary program and
business meeting. Mrs. R. M. Rim

where Lieutenant Clifford is a
1st Lieutenant in the 6th Divi
sion of the regular army attended

WITH MRS. LESTER CONLEY
The Franklin Garden Club will
meet on Monday afternoon, June
2, at 3 o'clock at the home of Mrs.
Lester S. Conley for its regular
monthly meeting.
Clyde H. Ray, of Waynesville,
will be the guest speaker and will
use "Flower Arrangements" for
his topic.
Assisting in entertaining will be

Sloan and Mrs. Charles Melichar.

that Harold Carelock, a younger
son of Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Care
lock was run over by an auto and
is in a grave condition. '
James L. Young, who spent the
past week ' here with his family,
left Sunday for Charlotte, where
he has employment. "

has been for a visit with her

tended visit here with relatives and

spending several days here with his
wife and young daughter, has re
turned to his work in Detroit,

U. S. Army stationed at Fort
Bragg, recently spent the week
end with his parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Zeb V. Shope, near Pren
tiss. Mr. and Mrs. T. H. Johnson
have returned from Detroit,
Mich., where they spent two
weeks with their daughters, Mrs.
Ruell Waldnoop and Mr. Wa
droop. On their return they were
accompanied- by Mrs. Waldroop,
who will spend several weeks
here.
J. Paul Raby has returned to
his work in Peachlaand after a
visit with relatives and friends at
Wests Mills. He also attended
the graduation exercises at the
Rabun Gap Nacoochee Industrial
school Monday, of which he is a
former student.
