Enlistment of Every
To Invest 10 Per Cent of Your
WAR BONDS AND STAMPS
"War is never cheap, but let me remind you it
is a million times cheaper to win than to lose."
HENRY MORGANTHAU, JR.
Secretary of the Treasury
Millions Under Arms - Billions of Dollars Needed
As millions of our men stand ready to fight under the flag of freedom, there must be
billions to pay for guns, tanks, ships, planes!
Invest Your Savings For Victory
As this nation girds itself for all-out war effort, you can serve by pledging your work
Pledge: That I will invest in Savings Bonds (Stamps) for the duration of the War to long as I am financially able to do so.
The week of May 4 to 9 has been fixed by the Secretary of
the Treasury as the time for the nation-wide campaign to secure
individual pledges to buy specified amounts of War Bonds and
Stamps either weekly or monthly.
In that week everybody will be asked by a solicitor to sign
such a pledge. We urge everybody to consider now just what
amount he or she can buy, and to be prepared to make the pledge
The pledges are purely voluntary and "are subject to any
change in financial circumstances. If at any time you should find
yourself unable to meet the pledge, you will not be reminded of
it, nor will you receive any communication about it.
The solicitors here will be citizens of this county. They are
doing this job out of a desire to be of service in the war effort
and to the nation in its hour of peril. Help them by making your
pledge at the time of their call.
If you are already buying Bonds regularly, the pledge need
not increase or change your program. The Government merely
wants and needs to know what it may expect as income each
