Corbin, of Gneiss, received her Bachelor of Arts degree May 31 at the Uni versity of Tennessee. During her college career Miss Corbin was elected to Phi Kaj>pa Phi honor ary fraternity. She was also active in Baptist Student work, having served as dormitory representative and Sunday School and Training Union officer. She will leave July 1 to accept a position with Clinton Engineer Works at Clinton, Tenn. Mrs. Thomas A. Henson and daughter, Betty Jean, have re ingturned to their home on Route 2, after visiting friends and rela tives in Lynchburg, Va. Eugene Furr is home for a short visit before returning to the Uni versity of N. C., to continue his studies. Miss Helen Patton, who has heen teaching in the art deport ment at W. C. T. C. at Cullowhee, and Andy I 'at to, student at N. C. State College, have been visiting at home during the past week. Miss Kate Roland, who is asso ciated with ibe Accessories Gor poratkm in Gastonia, visited - her faintly over the weekend. Mr. and Mrs. H. P. Tall eat of Cleveland, Tenn., former Franklin residents, attended the funeral Fri day of Mrs. Tallent's mother, Mrs. H. A. Hall of Burningtown. Miss Anna Jean Roland and Miss Mildred Roper, of Route 3, are attending a defense school in Nashville, Tenn. Sol Sanders has returned from Columbia, Mo., where he has been attending the University of Miss ouri. He will spend a few weeks in Franklin with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Sanders, before going to Ne York to study at Columbia University. Miss Jessie Ramsey, who has I been visiting at home for a few weeks, left Sunday for California. Her sister, Miss Virginia will meet her in Mobile, Alabama and ac company her to the west coast where they will visit relatives. Mrs. Carl Howard of Charleston, S. C., is spending this week with hier aunt, Miss Nettie Hurst, who has been quite ill, and her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Ramsey of Tellico. Mrs. . Paul Long has just re turned from a visit with her bro ther, Hillmrd Brown, and her sister, Mrs. Charles Stack house, of Ashe ville, N. C Miss Geneva Ledford has been visiting in Hayesville for tlve past week. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Blaine and infant son have arrived in, Frank lin for a month's vacation with his parents, Mr and Mrs. C. T. Blaine. Mr. Blaine is emptoyed as motorman with the Smoky Moun tain Stages. Mi^s Jane Setser gave a house party at Miss Amy Harrison's camp at Arrowood last week, in honor of her cousin, Miss Mary Wright Slagle, of Handle, Washing ton.
