Bible School
For Community To Begin
Monday At Baptist
Church
A two weeks community Bible
school, representing all the High-,
lands churches, will open here on
Monday under ithe principalship of
Rev. J. S. Higgins, pastor of the
Methodist churdh. The school will
be held in the Baptist church be
cause of its more adequate facili
ties for taking care of the differ
ent departments.
Miss Mariie Neely and Miss Bar
bora Zoellner will have charge of
the Beginners. The primary de
partment will be under the direc
tion of Mrs. H. T. Bridgman, who
will be assisted by Miss Angela
Anderson. Miss Eva Krewer will
have charge of the intermediates
and Mr. G. W. Dmltoon the Juniors.
Helpers in the intermediate and
junior departments wiH be the
Misses Dorothea Harbison, Rebec
ca Nail, Maxie Wright and Mar
garet Wiiey. Music will be by I
Mrs. J. S. Higgins.
Hand Work For Boys
There will he some type of
handwork for the boys under the
supervision of Rev. H. M. Alley
and Kev. H. T. Bridgman. One of
the contemplated projects for the
girls is the teaching of knitting
by Miss Nail.
School hours will be from nine
thirty to eleven thirty followed by
a ?thirty-minute recreational period.
Mr. Higgins said a warm wel
come awaits those of all ages ?
from four years to as old as they
will come. Mr. Higgiros also ex
pressed the hope that s^me form
of transportation may be had for
those in outlying sections. Last
year the Bible school had an en
rollment of eighty-four and ithree
cars were in daily use in getting
member* to and from the school
who were too far out to walk.
This year <he people of the Gear
Creek section wish to join with
the Highlands Bible school pro
vided transportation arrangements
can be made.
BILLY BRYSON COLLECTS
MAGAZINES FOR PRISONERS
Billy Bryson, 12 year old son of
Mr. and Mrs. W. A Bryson, has
a very noteworthy hobby. On his
own initiative Billy gathers Life
magazines and distributes them to
the maintenance crew of convicts
working on the highway, when
they are in this section. The past
week Billy's supply ran short, but
he hopes to be better prepared
next time.

BIRTH OF SON
Mr. and Mrs. Patrick Leonard
Appley hav* announced the birth
of a son, Patrick Leonard, Jr., on
June 3rd, at their home in San
Francisco, Calif.
"Pat'' Appley's parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Leonard G. Appley, and his
two sisters, the Missies Peggy and
Mary Appley, are also residents
of San Francisco for the duration.
The Appleys have beien summer
home owners here for a number
of years but due to war activities
they will not make their usual
summer visit this season, much to
<fie regret of their many Highlands
friends.

position with the Delta Air Lines ,
in Atlanta and is taking training
for air traffic control officer. Her
husband, Lieut. Nail, is with the
air corps somewhere in India
