Let'* Go M?oan County \X7ITH the Fifth War Loan rapidly drawing to " a close, Macon County's war bond sales have reached approximately $50,000, or less than 50 per cent of its quota of $188,000. This is not nearly so good as this county has done in previous drives. What is the matter with us? Are we going to let the boys down who are fighting and dying in France, Italy, China, India and Burma, and on the islands of the South and Central Pacific? They are the supplies our money can buy now more than ever. Let's make sure they get them by going over the top with our quota. Mrs. Frank H. Pott* IN the passing of Mrs. Frank H. Potts, of High * lands, her community and her county sustains a great loss. To one whose chief contact with her spirit and her work had been through Red Cross meeting over a decade, Mrs. Potts' presence brought strength and uplift. Year after year her faithful and untire ing leadership was the sure reliance of her group. Her enthusiastic cooperation always inspired others to approach their tasks with a higher zeal. Like most hard working and indefatigable peo ple, her spirit outran her physical endurance. As long as her strength lasted, Mrs. Potts gave of herself freely and unselfishly to the many good causes in which she served. Besides serving many years as chairman of the Red Cross, this public spirited woman served as a trustee of the Highlands Museum and Biological Laboratory, and of the Hudson Library. She was a past president of the Satulah. Club, and also of the Parent-Teacher association. The sympathy of her wide circle of friends is with her family. Poet's Corner A Soldier'* Plea "Dear Mother: Are they praying for us at home Are they meeting together for prayer, Or going on still in the usual way. As they did when I was there? We thank them .all for their money, We thank them all for their care; But, Oh, just tell them, dear Mother, We are needing so much their prayer. Will you ask them to gather to gether, To meet at our Father's Throne, That we may be kept from fal tering. When we feel we are standing alone; There are moments when cour age fails us, And dangers around us stare; , Do tell them again, dear Mo- ' ther. We are needing so much their prayer- J ?Your Soldier Boy, 1 In Australia." < \ ? Oak Dale JESSIE M. ROPER Pfc. Charles U.
