Notice of Sale for Taxes
Under and by virtue of the power vested in me by
the laws of the Stat^ of North Carolina, particularly
by Chapter 310 of the Public Laws of 1939 as amend
ed, and pursuant to an order of the Board of County
Commissioners, I will offer for sale and will sell at
public auction, for cash, to the highest bidder, at the
courthouse door in Macon County at 12 o'clock noon
on Monday, September 1, 1947, liens upon the real
estate described below for the non-payment of taxes
owing for the year 1946, the name of the owner or
the person who listed the real estate for taxes, the
real estate which is subject to the lien, and the amount
of the lien being set out below. Reference is made to
the records in the office of the Register of Deeds of
Macon County and in the office of the Tax Super
visor for more particular description of said real
estate. A notice is hereby given that the amounts of
the liens s'et out below are subject to the addition of
penalties as provided by law, and the costs of sale.

Of Owners To Law,
Ordinance On Dogs
C. D. Baird, Franklin chief of
police, this week called attention
to the law affecting dogs.
It is a violation of the law,
Mr. Baird pointed out. for a
dog to be permitted to run at
large without a muzzle The
law requires all owners of dogs
to have the animals vaccinat
ed against rabies. And a town
ordinance requires the police
to kill any female dog permitt
ed to run at large while in
heat, in addition, the ordinance
prescribes a $50 fine.

In Panama For Duty'
Cpl. John R. Austin, son of
Mr. and Mrs. W. C. Austin, of
Franklin, Route 3, recently ar
rived In the Panama Canal
Zone for duty with the army air
forces there. Cpl. Austin, who
has been in the army since
March 8, is assigned to instal
lation of the Caribbean air com
mand.
