Cabe. of Otto, Sunday to offer congratulations and leave gifts, as Mr and Mrs. Cabe celebrated their golden wedding anniver- 1 sary. Among the many who called were friends and relatives from a distance, well wishers from many parts of Macon County, and neighbors. Mrs. Cabe, prior to her mar riage half a century ago, was Miss Lula Campbell, of this| county. The Cabes' six children were all present for the occasion. C , spent the ; week-end with Mrs. Howard's ! and Miss Ramsey's mother, Mrs. Robert Ramsey, Franklin, Route 3, and their aunt, Miss Nettie ilurst, at "Wood Hurst Farm." Mrs. Charles B. Sweet and her daughter, Virginia, have return ed to their home in Thomasvillc, Ga., after a visit here with Mrs. Sweet's niece, Mrs. Gilmer L. Crawford, and family. Mr. and Mrs. James W. Rigdon, of Charlotte, spent last week end here as guests of Dr. and Mrs. R. M. Rimmer, at their home on Bidwell street. Mr. Rigdon is Mrs. Rimmer's neph ew. Miss Dorothy Ray, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Ray, who is taking graduate work at Col umbia university, is viaiting her parents at their home on Bid well street. Miss Ray will resume her studies at the University September 20. Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Ray at tended the graduation of their daughter, Anne, from the Uni versity of Tennessee at Knox ville last Friday. Mr. and Mrs. Ben Woodruff, of Greenville, S. C., visited friends here last week. Mr. Woodruff formerly was manag er of the Western Carolina Tel ephone company. Mis. Cora Reid, of Franklin, recently visited her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. George Tessier, at their home in Baton Rouge, La. Miss Laura M. Jones left last Saturday to resume her work as teacher of mathematics at Hugh Morson High school; Raleigh. Mr. and Mrs. Fred W. Brown and son, Donald, of Brevard, are visiting Mrs. Brown's par ents, Mr. and Mrs. R. N. Don aldson, at Prentiss. Mr. and Mrs. Eliard Shook and two children, Nancy and Danny, of Brevard, spent last week with Mrs. Shook's parents, Mr. and Mrs. R. N. Donaldson, at Prentiss. Miss Dorothy Sldan, after a few days here visiting her par ents, Mr. and Mrs. Harold T. Sloan, left Wednesday to re- 1 sume her work in Richmond, Va. Capt. and Mrs. J. D. She planned to- fly from Knoxville to Lewiston, making the trip in a day. Accompanying her to Knoxville were her mother, Mrs. J. S. Sloan, and her sister, Mrs. Reby S. Tessier, who are mak ing a visit to another of Mrs. Sloan's daughters, Mrs. I.
